Ruth Gilpin was presented the 2008 Sharlot Hall award by Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett at the Sharlot Hall Museum June 18th at an outdoor ceremony arranged by Museum Director John Langellier. Each year Sharlot Hall recognizes someone who has made a valuable contribution to the understanding and awareness of Arizona and its history. The 95 year old Pioneer, Author, historian, fiddler, plus many other accomplishments to her credit, whose parents founded the town of Paulden is most deserving of this honor. It was my pleasure to nominate Jessie Ruth Gilpin for the prestigious Sharlot Hall Award.
